Historical Perspective:
New Light Consultants, Inc was founded in 1998 to provide home-based mental health and substance abuse counseling to individuals and families who had a need or a desire to receive treatment in their home. The founders of NLC realize that home-based treatment can assist individuals and families to receive treatment by removing the barriers of transportation and conventional business hours.
Organizational Structure:
New Light Consultants Inc, is a private non-profit 501© 3. It is governed by a board of directors who meet the first Monday of even numbered months.

Board of Directors:
Executive Director/ Founder; Richard O. Watkins, Jr. MSW, LMSW, CAC-1.
Mr. Watkins is the founder and Executive Director of New Light Consultants, Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He has earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from the U of M. He is a Licensed Masters Social Worker in the State of Michigan. He has extensive experience in providing services to children and individuals seeking to overcome addictions to alcohol and other substances. He has provided direct service and administrative functions in the public and private sector.
As the founder of New Light Consultants, Inc. it was his belief that all individuals should be able to receive professional and quality counseling services in their homes despite their income or insurance status.
Operations Director; Sandra M. Hurst, MBA, LBSW.
Ms. Hurst has her Master of Business Administration, Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix, and her Bachelors of Arts degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. Prior to assuming the role of overseeing the Operations of NLC she provided 20 + years of service in the public mental health sector serving the Developmentally Disabled population and the Severe and Persistent Mentally Ill. Initially, upon joining NLC she provided Wraparound Services to At Risk Families.
Medical Director:Dr F.E. Quines, MD.
Dr. Quines is a Family Practicianer and founder of Caro Family Physicians. She and her practice have provided medical care to the citizens in the "thumb of Michigan" for two decades. She and her partners are an asset to New Light Consultants, Inc. and New Light Child & Family Institute in providing comprehensive medical and behavioral health care to children and families.
Clinical Director: Dr. Linda Hesson. Dr. Hesson has vast experience in providing services to individuals with Addiction Disorders as well as survivors of sexual abuse. Dr. Hesson has provided direct services, supervision and educational services in a variety of locations throughout the United States. As Clinical Director she oversees treatment of individuals and families and provides training to clinical personnel.
